Other residential insulation customers have special projects that require experience and professionalism such as maximizing the insulation R-value to make a solar panel installation more effective.

Commercial Insulation Services

Our business customers have their own clients to worry about so they hire our experienced team of insulation pros so they know it will be done correctly.

Regardless of the type of building - warehouses, distribution centers, factories, or other industrial properties are one type of commercial buildings we provide insulation service for.  In addition, barns and other agricultural buildings, retail centers, hotels, offices, restaurants, and more.

The buildings can be new or existing.  If existing, then it's a commercial retrofit insulation job or re-insulation job.  The old insulation either isn't performing or building changes require additional insulation to be added.

Types of Insulation Services

Brownsburg Insulation Service offers several different forms of insulation to address your specific needs.  These include:
  • Standard Batt insulation - typically fiberglass or mineral wool.  Both are naturally non-combustible, which is an important attribute.  Batts are usually best for noise reduction and can be used in conjunction with some spray foams around various pipes and electrical work.
  • Blown-In insulation - also known as "loose-fill" insulation, typically is cellulose-based which is from recycled paper and other wood-based materials.  Since it is a combustible material, it is treated with chemical-based flame retardants to remove its ability to catch on fire. Other formulations include fiberglass or mineral wool. Blown-in insulation allows the technician to cover all of the gaps that your Brownsburg house, condo, office building, commercial property, or other type of property has to keep the thermal barrier in top shape.
  • Spray Foam insulation - There are two types of polyurethane foam insulation: closed-cell and open-cell. They have different uses and applications.  Closed-cell spray foam insulation is very dense and acts as a tremendous vapor barrier and air barrier.  The R-value of closed-cell foam is 7 per inch.  Open-cell spray foam is more breathable and less dense.  It is used most in subfloors to reduce sounds and vibrations.
  • Rigid Foam insulation - usually comes in 4' x 8' sheets from 1/4 to 2 inches thick.  Its most common use is in basements where moisture might be an issue and in garage doors with a thermal barrier included.

What is 'R-Value'?

R-value is a measurement of the thermal resistance of a material.  Those materials with the highest R-values have the best insulating properties.  For example, a 1/4" rigid foam board insulation usually has a value of R-1 while a fiberglass batt of insulation that's 3 1/2" thick is rated at R-11.  Here are more examples of different types of insulation's approximate R-value:
  • R-1: 1/4" rigid foam board
  • R-2 to R-4: Blown-In insulation
  • R-3 to R-4: Fiberglass batts per inch although high-density batts can have slightly higher values
  • R-4: open-cell spray foam per inch
  • R-5: 1" rigid foam board
  • R-6 to R-7: closed-cell spray foam

As one would expect, the higher the R-value, the higher the price in most cases.  Homeowners or business owners making decisions on R-values needed and the investment to make should consider not only the initial price but also the recommended amounts for the state it will be installed in.  For Indiana, the Department of Energy classifies us as zone 5 and recommends the following R-values:
  • Attics - R-49 to R-60
  • Walls - 2x4 - R-13 to R-15, 2x6 - R-19 to R-21
  • Floors - R-25 to R-30
  • Crawlspaces - R-25 to R-30

Benefits of Insulation

Having good attic insulation allows heat to stay inside your Brownsburg home in the winter much easier than if you don't have the proper insulation or your existing insulation has degraded due to conditions or age.  The same principle applies if it's summer.  If you are running your air conditioner, you don't want to spend money on air that is escaping the house.  Just like your mom or dad used to tell to "close the refrigerator door" when you were a teenager, if the envelope of your home is not properly sealed, you will be spending money to cool the outside.  It would be like having windows open in your house. It will cost a lot more money to throw it away on cooling the outside than it will cost to fix the insulation problem and keep that cool air inside!

Insulation can also help with sound-proofing or at least deadening the noise transmission between rooms or floors.  Nothing is worse than having guests over and hearing every conversation they have in the bedroom or worse, noises from the bathroom!  Using the correct type of insulation to deaden noise will make everyone's day better when guests are there!  If your kids play video games in the basement or in the rooms upstairs, proper insulation between floors can make that dinner party with your group from church much more enjoyable if they don't have to hear the kids screaming at the other players.

Does your spouse fancy himself a rock star? Recording studio exec? Podcaster extraordinaire?  We have special insulation available to professionally deaden the sound and can even discuss in room options to further improve acoustics.

Normal wall insulation can reduce sound transfer by 50%.  The professional level of sound attenuation includes insulation as just one part of many to do the best job. Let us be your insulation contractor so that you can take advantage of these benefits of properly installed insulation in your home.
